Empowering Community Champions to Strengthen Accountability and Protection
At Braveheart Foundation, we believe that effective humanitarian assistance goes beyond meeting immediate needs. It requires building trust, protecting people’s rights and dignity, and ensuring that communities can safely voice their concerns and receive appropriate responses. Strengthening local capacity is an important step toward making humanitarian assistance more accountable and community-centered.
Recently, Braveheart Foundation conducted a refresher training on Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), and Complaints and Feedback Mechanisms (CFM) for Community Champions in Hpa-An, Kayin State. The training reinforced their knowledge and practical understanding of listening to community feedback, handling complaints safely, preventing sexual exploitation and abuse, and connecting affected individuals with appropriate support when needed.
By investing in the knowledge and skills of Community Champions, Braveheart Foundation aims to strengthen the link between communities and humanitarian services, helping ensure that people’s voices are heard and their concerns are addressed with care and accountability. This ongoing commitment to local capacity development contributes to safer, more responsive, and more sustainable humanitarian programming, where community trust and dignity remain at the center of our work.
