Building Safer, Stronger Civil Society Organizations in Kalaw
From 26 to 30 January, Braveheart Foundation brought together nearly 30 civil society local actors from 12 partner organizations in Kalaw, Shan State, for an intensive five-day capacity-building training focused on safeguarding, accountability, and organizational resilience.
In a context where communities face increasing SEA risks and civil society organizations operate under constant pressure, this training was more than a workshop; it was an investment in people, systems, and long-term impact.
The program combined a PSEA refresher training with an institutionalization training, equipping participants with both the practical skills and organizational tools needed to create safer environments for the communities they serve.
During the PSEA Refresher Training, participants strengthened their understanding of Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), ethical responsibilities, and survivor-centered safeguarding approaches. Through interactive discussions, real-life case studies, and hands-on exercises, they practiced using safe reporting channels and Complaints and Feedback Response Mechanisms (CFRM), ensuring that dignity, confidentiality, and accountability remain at the heart of their work.
The Institutionalization Training supported organizations to move beyond short-term responses toward sustainable systems. Participants shared challenges, exchanged experiences, and explored strategic planning tools, internal governance strengthening, and ways to align organizational structures with their core values and missions.
As a result of this training, participating organizations are now better equipped to:
- Strengthen and institutionalize PSEA policies and safeguarding practices
- Build resilient organizational systems that can withstand ongoing crises
- Deliver safe, accountable, and people-centered responses to affected communities
Your support makes this possible.
By investing in capacity-building initiatives like this, you help ensure that local organizations are not only responding to crises but doing so safely, ethically, and sustainably.
Braveheart Foundation remains committed to working hand in hand with partner organizations to strengthen civil society, protect vulnerable communities, and build a future where accountability and dignity are non-negotiable.
