Building Safer Communities: Insights from PSEA FGDs in Kengtung and Taunggyi

The PSEA Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) in Kengtung and Taunggyi, Shan State, brought together internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the local communities. The Taunggyi session was held on the 26th, while the Kengtung session took place on the 30th.

During these discussions, participants actively engaged in interactive Q&A sessions, sharing their experiences and providing crucial feedback on questions related to the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). These insights were instrumental in understanding the community’s perspective on PSEA mechanisms.

Participants were carefully selected by Braveheart’s data collectors, who had previously collected vital information about the PSEA reporting system. Those with significant understanding and valuable insights into the PSEA framework were chosen to contribute to these focused discussions.

The FGDs served as a platform for community members to express their concerns, discuss challenges, and explore potential solutions for improving ethical reporting practices and mechanisms. A strong emphasis was placed on the importance of raising awareness and fostering trust in PSEA systems within the community.

This initiative underscores Braveheart Foundation’s dedication to creating safer, more accountable communities while ensuring the inclusion of vulnerable groups in the decision-making process.
