The relentless aftermath of Typhoon Yagi continues to inflict devastating flood hazards on communities across Myanmar. Although the degree of impact varies, the collective experience of struggle remains a common thread. Among the most severely affected are people with vulnerable backgrounds, who bear the disproportionate burden of these natural disasters. In Kengtung, Eastern Shan State, the toll has been particularly harrowing – families grappling with destroyed homes from relentless landslides, persistent power outages, disrupted communication lines, and urgent needs for life-sustaining supplies. Amidst these dire circumstances, a group remains overlooked and underserved – the elderly in nursing homes.

While their lives were spared from immediate danger, the elderly experienced significant loss as bedding, clothing, and other essentials were swept away by the unforgiving floodwaters. Although temporary shelter and essential support have been arranged at the monastery, a gap persists between the aid provided and their ongoing needs. To bring comfort and relief to the 15 elderly individuals who now call the monastery home, donations of lunch and snacks have been made, bridging the immediate and long-term needs.

Braveheart Foundation is proud to share these acts of compassion and generosity in the hopes of inspiring others to join the mission of filling gaps wherever possible. Together, we can help Myanmar recover and rebuild in the wake of these natural disasters. We offer our sincerest prayers for the nation’s swift healing and resilience.
